‘We must work together among those who face the challenge of reporting facts and not inventing them,’ Villegas stated.
On Monday, the multimedia platform teleSUR and the Chinese news agency Xinhua signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement that will strengthen the relationship between these media outlets.

teleSUR President Patricia Villegas and Xinhua President Fu Hua signed the document during the Global South Media Summit, held in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo.
“teleSUR and Xinhua have been cooperating for years. But without a doubt, this signing of this document is a commitment that reaffirms our joint work, which will allow us to create more democracy and more governance,” Villegas said.
“With the signing of this agreement, teleSUR will continue building a vast network connecting teleSUR with other countries and peoples, so we have an ever-stronger voice,” she added.
Earlier, during the Global South Media Summit, the teleSUR president had called for strengthening ties among communicators from the Global South to achieve more effective coordination.
“We must work together, from the simplest communication initiatives to the most influential content creators. We must work together among those of us who uphold ethics and respect for truth and reality, among those who face the challenge of reporting facts and not inventing them,” Villegas emphasized.
On Monday, the Global South Media Summit kicked off in São Paulo, bringing together journalists, thinkers, and social leaders who aim to amplify the voices from developing countries.
